HCPP23 | Panel discussion - The Economics of Free Software
TODAY, for the second day in a row, this server will have served over a million requests. We seem to have found a good rhythm and more videos will be published over the weekend. The more critical parts of the upgrade/conversion are complete and now we're just ameliorating a bunch of things. We're attempting to publish important material.
Some days ago we converted into a Free/libre (compatible) format a very recent talk by Richard M. Stallman, or RMS for short (talk details in his Web site). We've just done the same to the panel discussion's video, going under the umbrella of "The Economics of Free Software" (they use the correct terminology).
This comes from HCPP23, where HCPP stands for Hackers Congress Paralelní Polis. It's an event which goes back nearly a decade and is based in Prague.
RMS sounds very clear (some prior talks of his had unfortunate microphone/mask 'malfunctions') and his mind works immaculately. Notice how around 39:00 he's blasting the very concept of Clown Computing. RMS goes on for minutes explaining how dumb that concept is and why we should not even name it. █
