Tech.LGBT Removes Shadow Ban on George Takei, Blocks Me for Asking Why.
Yesterday, I posted about Tech.LGBT, a Mastodon server, putting a shadow, or “soft” ban on George Takei, a gay Japanese-American man who was a victim of the United States Concentration Camps under Executive Order 9066.
Mr. Takei was taken to these camps as a child, along with his family, and many, many American citizens, in what the United States government later admitted was an atrocity committed without legitimate purpose, without any wrongdoing on the part of the victims, due to “wartime hysteria” and “racial prejudice”, in 1988, when Congress passed an apology and a reparations bill.
A “trans person” who blogs against Techrights has at least one account on Tech.LGBT. When I clicked through to George Takei, this is what appeared.
Why would you shadow ban George Takei?
He’s a gay man, a victim of racism and xenophobia, and of concentration camps, and he is also notable for playing a fairly major role in Star Trek (the Original Series) as well as several of the movies. (Mr. Sulu)
When I asked a moderator on Tech.LGBT why they banned George Takei:
Their only response was to block me.
So that I couldn’t send them any more messages.
I am still blocked by this person, simply for sending this message.
However, today, George Takei is unblocked.
It’s amazing that when you call people out on this, they can’t just say “Oops.” and quit attacking people, right?█
