Wars and Conflicts Likely to Accelerate Adoption of GNU/Linux Because Countries Pursue Security and Privacy Rather Than Hegemony
YESTERDAY I wrote about China's rapid transition to its own chips and operating systems based on GNU/Linux. Russia is now preparing to mass-produce its own chips as well. We had that in Daily Links this morning. What does this mean to the Wintel duopoly or x86 "hegemony"? No good...
In Africa, GNU/Linux is estimated to have passed 3% on the desktops/laptops (2 years ago it was hovering around 1% there) and taking mobile devices into account as well, Android occupies about 2 in 3 clients (it's lower across Asia, where GNU/Linux is on more than 1 in 20 desktops/laptops).
Countries look for alternative economics and are willing to change the balance of global power by diversifying or seeking autonomy.
The world is moving away from Windows and the media hardly mentions this. What kind of media is this? █
