Richard Stallman Planted the Feeds for Sharing (and Collaboration/Cooperation) in Software
THE year is 2023, 40 years after GNU started. Software developers have access to freedom. Software users too can choose freedom-respecting "apps" (the fashionable term for software, typically normalising surveillance and worse).
Software Freedom is very important; to understand its importance we must somehow imagine a world where such freedom isn't even an option. Imagine what companies would get away with and what users would not be able to get away from.
I wrote something related to this an hour ago in the 'sister' site. Don't forget how revolutionary and important GNU was. It was a lot more important than Linux and it's under an active siege by CoC masters (who insist that the term "master" itself is the cause of offence). █
