Microsoft's Software Patents as Potential Trojan Horses in OS/2, Not Just Linux
THERE is now a "FAT32 Installable File System Driver Package for OS/2 version 5.0.5." (Source: Arca Noae [1])
However, an associate has explained that the topic of software patents is even missing from their README file. [2]
"Arca Noae mistakenly thinks that patents have to do with origin or distribution and is effectively spreading disinformation via their Wiki," [3] explains the associate.
To be clear, back in 2009 Microsoft had already viciously bullied many companies with junk patents on FAT and then took TomTom to court over it. FAT is a Trojan horse that carries people on to stuff like exFAT, just like the MPEG cartel uses MP3, falsely declaring the old format "dead" (because all the relevant patent expired) and then force-feeding users the next Trojan horse/s, in effect evergreening the patent trap by imposed adoption, shielding a new patent tax (or thicket as they call these patents collectively). A revenue stream for patent trolls and parasites with submarine patents in bulk (rendering a legal challenge more expensive).
OS/2 once competed with Windows. It should not try to copy Windows. Nothing good even comes from aping Windows (see ReactOS, which remains a tiny niche compared to GNU/Linux). █
