the weeks have been pants
I have had the most /absolute hell/ the last few weeks between work stress-beyond-stress and family drama (with a side of I myself continue to not matter a fuck to said family) and fannish ennui (for several reasons, from several sources). Between all that and the lingering headcold/sinus infection, I haven't done a lot on here *bleh*

didn't really have anything of note to say yesterday or today... still don't, really! it's technically been two days since i've written anything, since it's the 14th now, but it's only 1am so to me it's still kind of the 13th :p
so... i guess i've been still fixated on mario's madness? have i even talked about that? can't remember. well, it's a friday night funkin' mod. being a big nintendo fan, i adore this mod. so much care, passion, and detail went into every single aspect of the mod! i especially love the art, visuals, and music. i keep tracking down everyone who's played this mod because i want to see how many people understand certain references, even obscure ones like the australian nintendo commercial!

A "bad" counselor
So my university, like many these days, provides some counseling services. Ostensibly, they're supposed to help you with a wide variety of personal problems, from school stress to chronic depression, though if you were to ask any people with chronic depression about them they'd probably tell you they do a lot more of the former than the latter. Most know better than to seek their help.

contemplating the aspect of water
If there is an aspect of being within us, that can be described in the same words as the waters outside, the all-waters of the world, it lies deep, so deep within us that we can barely grasp it.
It is, this aspect, the scale of our energy, libido, agency. It is a description as much of our interest in the cosmos as of our understanding and synchronization with it. It is what we experience, learn and grow through. It is what seems (mistakenly?) to be a property of the world.

Fake good news about our real bad habits
A while back, The āGuardianā published a misleading headline saying that 71% of global warming is caused by 100 companies, which then was leading a lot of people towards inaction and āenh not my problemā.

Low Priority Guix (publ. 2024-03-14)
One of the tradeoffs for using Guix is that the processes for doing builds, upgrades, and such like tends to be CPU and I/O heavy. (Though, once a profile is built, switching to it is very fast.) I found that, on my less-than-bleeding-edge computers, running a guix build or upgrade can introduce a lot of latency into my desktop experience or even cause Gnome Shell to freeze up. So, I've always wanted some way to make Guix processes have less impact on my system, while still running them in the background.
Early on, I explored off-loading. The main problem with this approach is it would require me to operate another computer just for this task, which didn't appeal to me.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
