What am I up To Anyway?
Good question. Right now I am actually in between projects... Which means I am basically winging it at life in between working at teaching kids the basics of game development.
I've been slowly working on learning Dutch, I mean that in like the last 48 hours I started, so yeah, might take a while before I'm writing these in Dutch. Until then... Try to imagine what Dutch looks like, and I guarantee it's sillier than that.

News Notes (publ. 2024-03-07)
I collect a lot URLs of that seem relevant to Biblical Creationism and also Israel, in science and political news. I'm going to try to share them occasionally in batches.

Edlin 📝
I forgot that not long ago⁽ᵃ⁾ I tried writing a clone of ed, the original line-oriented Unix editor. So when I had a nostalgic moment about having used edlin many years ago, I tried writing a clone of that.
DOS was an operating system that consisted of three files, including the shell, back when memory came in kilobytes. The only editor you got was edlin, and everybody hated it. It was hard to use, lacked features, and was stuffed with oddities.

Idempotent switches
One lesson I’ve learned in the past few years is that idempotent is good.
That means a switch you push and it stays pushed even if you push more.

Mind Maps
I'm playing with something on my Linux system called Minder. It is an app for creating mind maps. Instead of creating lists, it gives a more visual representation of what you are thinking about, and linking them together.
I am experimenting with different ways of organizing my day, and my thoughts, and my many tasks. There are TODO list apps. I've also looked at the Getting Things Done idea (I saw an entry for that on Idiomdrottning's capsule, see link). There is a Linux app called "Getting Things Gnome", that follows this idea.

Why Is AuraGem Now Open Source?
Yep, I've released AuraGem's capsule as open source now. I've been meaning to do this for a while. It includes the code for AuraGem Search, Music, the Live Chat, Textola, the Public Radio, and some other things.

Hello there
I recently started exploring the smallweb and It has been interesting to see more what people are up to. I don't even remember how my adventure started, but it has been fun :)
My current interests include: Web development (Exploring the small web I came across a lot of cool websites so I thought I would make my own lol), game development (It has been a while since I did something but I still do find it interesting), and of course playing some games (I did create a minecraft server recently where I and my roommate started a playthrough).

Is Peak Current Internet Approaching?
Over the last decade and a half, the Web has made a pretty big shift from comprising largely of a variety of independently run sites to a handful of very dominate platforms. The vast majority of users are being funnelled to silos like YouTube, Reddit, Twitter (no, I'm not calling it X), and various other social media.
To be fair, there are still a lot of independent sites out there but many have become so soulless, so cynical. It's not like the olden days when these sites were made by passionate hobbyists that decided to learn HTML and make a place dedicated to their particular interest. Now these sites are predominantly AI produced, heavily SEO'd drivel that is highly unhelpful, clogging up search engine results to the point that many users add "reddit" to their search queries in order to get information that is even tangentally useful. This is a big problem on its own, but I'm getting sidetracked, so let's save that discussion for another day.
