Google: GNU Started in the 1990s and It Cannot be Named (as in GNU/Linux)
Video: A brief history of Linux
The video on the side is new. It's also short.
Maybe we're being overly pedantic and harsh. So here's the whole thing, including all the available context. She said (one week ago, official Google account) that GNU started in the 1990s. She frames it like GNU was a UNIX-based operating system and so was Linux, but that's not what actually happened. If this is how "Google Career Certificates" is teaching history, then it's no better than the Linux Foundation's "courses", which don't mention GNU at all [1, 2] (the lack of attribution is intentional).
Corporations don't have an interest in telling history accurately.
